SKIN Journeys: Sonya's Struggle to Find Eczema Treatment & How Gladskin Was the One That Finally Worked

Welcome back to our fourth installment of SKIN Journeys: a series where we spotlight members of our community for their incredible eczema success stories. Here, in their own words, they get real about their personal experiences with eczema and the impact it’s had on their lives — as well as how Gladskin ultimately changed the game for them.

Meet Sonya, a passionate member of the Gladskin community who’s seen her skin transformed with our microbiome-balancing Eczema Cream. Below, Sonya shares her frustrating journey trying to find an effective skin treatment while her eczema continued to worsen — and how Gladskin is finally helping her heal.

How It All Started

Eczema can be tricky to diagnose. It can look a lot like psoriasis, contact dermatitis, ringworm, and more. Unfortunately, misdiagnosis can lead to a longer recovery and treatment process, as Sonya discovered.

“It started on the bottom of my feet, and that’s why I didn’t think it was eczema. It was on the bottom of one foot, and then it got on the bottom of the other foot. It itched like something terrible... It was like I couldn’t get underneath my skin to scratch it, so I just scratched the skin off of my feet. It got really painful.”

Fighting for Answers…

“It went to the top of my foot after two years. It looked like poison ivy, and it felt like poison ivy, so I went to the urgent care and told them I had poison ivy. They gave me some kind of steroid cream to put on it. Well, it helped it a little bit, but it didn’t go away, so I thought, ‘Okay, I’m good now.’ Well, it just got worse…”

“It just got worse, and itchy – more itchy, but it wasn’t on the bottom anymore, thank goodness. But after two more years, it had gotten out of control. I didn’t know what else to do, so I went to a dermatologist.”

Sonya had been rubbing Vaseline on her feet and wrapping them in plastic wrap for years. At the dermatologist, they recommend steroid creams… She ended up trying four different kinds before being recommended immunosuppressant drugs she refused to take.

What many people don’t realize when they continue topical steroid use is the risk of topical steroid withdrawal, or “Red Skin Syndrome.” Sonya described her experience as, “not good at all, bloody, oozy, just nasty. It was just nasty, very embarrassing; horrible, painful, horrible. I can’t imagine what other people go through with more on their body than what I had… I wanted to chop my feet off.”

From Hopeless to Hopeful with Gladskin

“I cried when my feet got so bad, I was like, ‘What am I going to do? Nothing’s working.’ So, I just hit the internet, and I tried you know, the oils and everything —  tea tree oil. I tried CBD oil. I tried bleach water, oatmeal, other creams and lotions, you name it…”

Then Sonya found the Gladskin Eczema Cream and read the hundreds of reviews loyal customers have left about their success stories. Comforted by the money-back guarantee, she purchased — and couldn’t be happier that she did.

“My feet are… I won’t say 100%, they’re 95% better now, because it’s not totally gone, but wow. The quality of life is totally better. I mean, I had this for five years, and it just got worse and worse and worse, and probably three months [using Gladskin] — maybe? — I’m like 95% better.”

“My feet, the tops and the sides, my ankles, and on my heel… The skin there, I just tore it to pieces.”

“It kind of looked like Freddie Kruger, with potholes and everything in them. I think it was because of the scratching; it just tore up the skin. But Gladskin helped all of that. I can’t even… it’s just amazing.”

“It’s just continually fading, and this was the first time I’ve ever used anything consistently that didn’t make it get worse; it’s actually getting better.”

If you or someone you love is struggling with eczema, you don’t have to settle for conventional treatments that offer band-aid solutions and often cause long-term complications, like topical steroid withdrawal or an unbalanced skin microbiome.
