SKIN Journeys: A Medical Student Shares Her Struggle With Adult On-Set Eczema—And How Gladskin Changed the Game

Welcome to SKIN Journeys: an exciting new series we’ve started to spotlight the members of our community and their incredible eczema success stories. Here, in their own words, they’ll get real about their personal experiences with eczema and the impact it’s had on their lives—as well as how Gladskin ultimately changed the game for them.

Up first, meet Ashley Berlot, a medical student who’s finally opening up about her journey with adult-onset eczema.

“Around April 2019, I started having symptoms of eczema, most prominently on my hands, but also spreading across the majority of my body, too. The dyshidrotic blisters and itchy red patches were very unsightly and uncomfortable, and during my worst flare-up, I was so itchy that I had difficulty falling asleep at night. I was awake scratching into the early hours of the morning.

As a medical student, I examine patients somewhat regularly, and although no one said anything, I’m sure my patients felt uneasy having me—a student with itchy red spots all over my hands—touching their bodies. I  tried most lotions and soaps recommended for people with eczema, and none of them made much of a difference. I’ve also tried steroids of both medium and high potency on my body, and specifically on my hands with gloves overnight, and while it generally worked decently on some patches, it never did much for my hands. The steroids also caused red cracks through my skin, so I ended up trading one skin problem for another with their use.

I also had to stop using any scented soaps, lotions, and detergents, and well, having my daily joy of pleasurable-smelling products taken away has been really hard. Eczema has definitely affected both my professional and daily life immensely.

“I first used it during a bad flare-up in June of this year, and within a day or two applications-worth of using Gladskin, my skin was dramatically better.”

One day, my friend from medical school saw someone online recommending Gladskin for eczema and suggested I try it. I first used it during a bad flare-up in June of this year, and within a day or two applications-worth of using Gladskin, my skin was dramatically better. The eczema on my body was completely cleared up, and the patches on my hands were greatly diminished. I was not the only one to notice, either. My grandma's response to before-and-after photos of my eczema over the course of that single day was, ‘Your skin looks phenomenal now.’

I cannot say enough about how incredible and life-changing Gladskin has been. It’s improved my quality of life enormously, and I now take it everywhere I go just in case. One thing I really appreciate is it can also be applied to the face, and steroids really shouldn’t be, so for anyone with eczema in this location, this is an amazing no-steroid solution. For anyone suffering from eczema, this is absolutely necessary to try—it’s been paramount to anything else I've ever used. I am truly so very grateful for this product, that I can’t say it enough. I personally have seen the amazing results Gladskin gives, which has given me hope that others can have the same effect.
